Enterprise Fleet Management is helping the school district replace its aging fleet with a variety of vehicles that offer the latest in safety and crash-avoidance technologies, such as electronic stability control and backup cameras. The vehicles will be used by the schools and district office for official school business and student activities.
“Our partnership with Enterprise Fleet Management will reduce overall vehicle costs while providing safer vehicles,” said Lark Reynolds, Tooele County School District Business Administrator.
“Enterprise has helped us right-size our current fleet of vehicles, and over a five-year period will replace all vehicles with newer, more fuel-efficient models that require less maintenance,” added Reynolds. “And that will save us money that we can ultimately reinvest into our schools.”
The Tooele County School District oversees 26 brick and mortar schools in Tooele, Utah, and it serves 16,000 students in grades K-12.
Enterprise Fleet Management operates a network of more than 50 fully staffed offices and manages a fleet of more than 470,000 vehicles in the U.S. and Canada. After analyzing the school district’s needs, Enterprise Fleet Management identified ways to manage its fleet more efficiently and developed a strategy that includes downsizing the fleet by 10 underutilized vehicles and replacing outdated vehicles with newer models every five years. Enterprise is delivering an initial 45 vehicles to the school district in the first year.
The school district had been operating a fleet of 100 vehicles with an average age of about 10 years, with many vehicles exceeding 15 years old. The new vehicles will provide a 40 percent improvement in fuel economy and lower emissions, while requiring less maintenance overall. The average maintenance cost is expected to be cut by more than two-thirds of the district’s current average monthly cost per vehicle.

In addition to leasing the new vehicles, Enterprise is providing vehicle licensing, registration, and regular maintenance. Enterprise uses local businesses to provide routine service and delivery of the vehicles. Once the vehicles have reached the optimum point in their lifecycle, Enterprise will apply its remarketing expertise to ensure that the school district receives the highest possible resale value for its fleet.
