The Global Real Estate Sustainability Benchmark (GRESB), the worldwide portfolio-level standard for environmental, social and governance (ESG) benchmarking for real estate, recently recognized the BOMA 360 Performance Program as a green certification for individual building operations. GRESB is a globally recognized, relative benchmark for assessing the sustainability performance of real estate, debt and infrastructure portfolios around the world.
The BOMA 360 Performance Program was launched in 2009 by the Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA) International as a holistic third-party evaluation of a building’s operational and management performance benchmarked against industry best practices. GRESB’s validation of the BOMA 360 building designation recognizes the program as a prestigious evaluator of sustainability and governance best practices. Achieving the BOMA 360 designation will help portfolios improve their GRESB performance in everything from standard operating procedures to tenant engagement to energy management.
“We are thrilled that GRESB has recognized the BOMA 360 Performance Program,” said BOMA International Chair Rob Brierley, BOMA Fellow, managing director of Real Estate Management Services and executive vice president of Colliers Boston. “All BOMA programs are built around industry best practices, and the BOMA 360 designation signifies that the property team is operating the building at peak performance, which in turn supports greater financial and environmental performance and lower risk.”
More than 1,700 BOMA 360 designations have been conferred in more than 70 markets worldwide, totaling more than half a billion square feet of commercial space. Earning a BOMA 360 designation offers buildings tangible results, measured through higher tenant retention and satisfaction scores, higher rental rates and documented operations and management savings and efficiencies as reported in designee surveys and by Kingsley Associates.
