Crain’s NY Business: NYU Langone Medical Center proposes new ambulatory center, emergency department in Brooklyn

NYU Langone Medical Center wants to build a $204 million ambulatory care center and freestanding emergency department on a site in Cobble Hill, replacing a nearby facility that has been handling patients’ health care needs, according to Crain’s New York Business.

From Crain’s New York Business:

“NYU Langone’s proposed 160,000-square-foot facility, scheduled to open in 2018, will be located at 70 Atlantic Ave., off Hicks Street. It will include a multispecialty ambulatory surgery, a cancer center, a diagnostic imaging center, a laboratory and a pharmacy.

‘The emergency department will have 10 patient bays, 12 private flex-patient spaces and two inpatient beds. The cancer center will have 20 patient positions for infusions and two “fast track” spots, where injections and blood work are commonly done….

‘In January, Skanska USA announced it was selected as the winner of a $120 million contract to build the ambulatory care facility. The announcement projected that construction would be completed in late 2017.”
