Dedicated green substation powers Aquafil USA’s fiber plant

Aquafil USA, in Cartersville, Ga., is now completely run on energy from green renewable sources, mostly wind and solar.

The company switched to a fully-dedicated electric substation by its self-imposed March 21 deadline.

The 1 Aquafil Drive fiber extrusion plant was opened in 2006. Eleven years later, thanks to an agreement signed with the City of Cartersville electric department, Aquafil USA no longer uses fossil fuels to power the facility.

With the new supply system implemented, the combination of the production of ECONYL® 100% regenerated nylon along with the green energy flow will allow Aquafil yarn manufactured in Cartersville to score an extremely low carbon footprint.
