Ware Malcomb gives Atlantic Aviation streamlined design

Ware Malcomb provided interior architecture and design services for the 9,000-square-foot Waukesha County Airport facility in Wisconsin. Atlantic Aviation is one of the largest networks of fixed base operations for airports in the United States, providing a wide range of aviation services at more than 70 locations.

The space includes a terminal lounge, offices and executive conference rooms. Consistent with all Atlantic Aviation facilities, the design aesthetic emulates the characteristics of the geographic region that it serves. The new terminal design’s warm and inviting style represents the Midwestern locale and the interior architecture complements the streamlined design of the surrounding planes with clean lines and geometries.

A conference center designed with flexibility in mind is available for use at the Atlantic Aviation terminal. Included in the design is a wall divider that can expand and contract the size of the room depending on the meeting requirements. Generous amenities are provided in the terminal for both passengers and pilots alike. The passenger amenities include the spacious lounge with Wi-Fi, a variety of comfortable seating options, a vending area and a working aviation museum space. The pilot amenities include a lounge, sleep room and flight school training area.

Examples of energy-saving technologies in the facility include motorized shades in the lobby area and the use of LED lighting. The soft seating and design fabrics selected for use in the terminal lounge help soften the room acoustics.

The general contractor for the project was Morgan Harbour. Ware Malcomb also previously completed a project for Atlantic Aviation at the Chicago Executive Airport in Wheeling, Illinois.
